UPPER WEST SIDE — An apparent electrical fire damaged the top floor of a four-story brownstone on the Upper West Side Tuesday morning, forcing the evacuation of the eleven units in that building and the home next to it, FDNY and witnesses said.

FDNY received a call about the fire around 9:09 a.m. from 309 W. 82nd St. between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive.

"The owners saw an outlet flash near the clothes dryer," FDNY Deputy Chief Mike Mullins said, adding that unit 4A of the building was "heavily damaged."

One apartment resident suffered minor burns during the fire, but refused medical treatment at the scene, FDNY said.

Four fire engines and five trucks put the fire out within 10 minutes, according to FDNY.
