MANHATTAN — Eli Manning took a beating from his older brother Peyton Manning as the New York Giants were smacked around by the Indianapolis Colts in a 38-14 loss.

Compounding the Giants problems on both sides of the ball Sunday night, running back Brandon Jacobs is being investigated by the NFL after he threw his helmet into the stands in frustration.

"Let's be honest," said Giants safety Antrel Rolle, according to the Daily News, "we got whupped in every phase of the game."

Peyton Manning torched Big Blue's defense, completing 20 of 26 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Colts running backs gained 160 yards on the ground.

Jacobs, who's been frustrated by his diminished role in the Giants offense after being demoted from his starting role, said he was trying to throw his helmet at the bench, not the stands.

"It was a mistake," Jacobs said, according to the News. "The whole world could be falling down on me and I wouldn't mean to do that."

Eli Manning had a dismal game, going 13 for 24 for 161 yards. He threw for two touchdowns, but also tossed a pick and fumbled the ball twice while being sacked. Those turnovers led to 17 points by the Colts.

"He'd be the first to tell you he's gonna feel very bad about it," coach Tom Coughlin told the New York Post. "Very bad we didn't win, very bad he didn't play better."

It was the second year in a row that the Manning brothers have gone head to head, and the second straight time Peyton Manning has come out on top.

"It's one game, and that's all," Eli Manning told the Post. "We're 1-1 just like a lot of teams are 1-1 now. You would like to have come here and played better against a good team, but we have to look at it now as a learning experience."
