LOWER MANHATTAN — The 1 train is taking the next two weekends off downtown, as three separate construction projects interrupt its usual route.

The 2/3 train will replace many of the 1 train's usual stops by running local between 96th Street and Chambers Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday this weekend and next.

But straphangers who want to reach the 1 train stops south of Chambers Street will have to switch to a shuttle bus, because the Port Authority is doing work on the 1 train tracks that run through the World Trade Center site.

Upper Manhattan will see additional service interruptions as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority begins an overhaul of the Dyckman Street station.

The MTA recommends that people take the A train instead if possible.
