MANHATTAN —Liberal-bashing radio host Rush Limbaugh has made good on his promise to skip NYC - and he hightailed it so fast, he forgot to pack his belongings.
The right-wing motormouth promised to "get out of New York totally" after railing about paying the city's high taxes.
His Fifth Avenue condo has now sold for $11.75 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. It comes complete with his gaudy furnishings and taste in decor.
Brokers familiar with the purchase told the Journal that the buyers, whose names were not disclosed, planned on keeping much of the eccentric design in the condo, which overlooks Central Park.
The four-bedroom, 4,661-square-foot pad has handpainted murals on walls and ceilings, ornate beds and elaborate drapery.
Limbaugh, who spends most of his time in Florida, vowed to sell his Manhattan home in a now infamous radio show broadcast last May.
He said, "I announced that I was officially vacating New York after these stupid, punitive, massive tax increases, and basically I go to New York now for hurricane relief, whenever a hurricane hits. No other reason to go there. Well, sometimes I visit the overrated staff, but it would be cheaper to fly the staff down here to visit me than to pay these stupid tax increases!"
It took months for anyone to bite — and until this week, it appeared he would have to continue to lower the asking price.
Limbaugh reportedly paid $5 million for the digs in 1994. He originally wanted $13.95 million for the apartment.
