UPPER EAST SIDE — A man who pleaded guilty to beating his maid unconscious last year claims he lost a diamond and emerald-encrusted belt buckle while he was in custody, the New York Post reported.

George Bardwil's insurance company is seeking reimbursement for the $187,200 belt buckle that it claims was lost while the 58-year-old was being held at the 19th precinct at 153 E. 67th Street, the Post reported.

The CEO of Bardwil Industries pleaded guilty to beating his 4-foot-11 maid, Reina Nunez, unconscious last year and was sentenced to three-years probation, the paper reported.

A spokesman for the city's law department told the paper that it would look into the matter thoroughly.

Nunez currently has a $20 million lawsuit against Bardwil, the paper reported.
