MANHATTAN — The Harlem apartment fire where an 80-year-old man died last weekend has been ruled accidental, a fire department spokesman said Tuesday.

There are no indications that the victim, Pertival Plumer, was the victim of a crime, police said. But the medical examiner's office has not yet determined what exactly killed him.

The electrical fire broke out Sunday evening in the kitchen area of Plumer's fourth floor apartment in the St. Philip's Senior house on West 133rd Street, a fire department spokesman said. Firefighters found his body and had the fire out within 10 minutes.

No one else was hurt.
