MANHATTAN — A JetBlue flight attendant who dramatically walked off the job Monday now says he'd love to return to the skies.

A lawyer for Steven Slater, who quit his job over the PA system of a flight arriving at JFK from Pittsburgh before deploying the plane's emergency slide and running away on the tarmac, said his client would like to return to work, the New York Post reported.

The 38-year-old was charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment for his stunt and is currently working out a plea deal with prosecutors, the Post reported.

Although Slater seems keen on returning to his old job, administrators at JetBlue indicated that all is not forgiven or forgotten, NBC New York reported.

Rob Maruster, chief operating officer for JetBlue, sent a memo to the company's employees denouncing Slater's actions, the network reported.

Maruster said behavior like Slater's "will not and can not be tolerated," according to NBC.

Initial passenger accounts of Slater's meltdown said that he snapped after an altercation with a passenger left him with a gash on his head.

But a Port Authority investigation has found that Slater may have suffered a cut prior to boarding the plane, the Post reported.
