Central Park - Police believe a Central Park blaze that gutted five city-owned golf carts could have been deliberately set.
The fire destroyed the vehicles which were parked behind the North Meadow recreation center, near West 97th Street, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, police told the New York Post.
By the time it was extinguished, two of the electric vehicles had been completely destroyed. The other three had their rubber tires and steering wheels melted.
The blaze, which investigators say is being treated as suspicious, also damaged a 75-year-old linden tree.
