MANHATTAN — One day after he rescued her from the murky waters off a downtown Manhattan pier, Nicholas Przybyla was reunited with Brooklyn social worker-cum-damsel in distress Danielle Julia DiMonda on Monday, reported the New York Daily News.
The two were strangers when they had their first encounter on Sunday at 1 a.m., when they were both returning from an MIA concert on Governors Island, the paper reported.
While attempting to get off the ferry, the 32-year-old DiMonda did not notice the gap between the ferry and the Manhattan pier, and fell right into the water.
Przybyla, a 28-year-old Afghan War vet, told the News that he knew he had to jump in when he saw her head disappear. Enough waiting for security guards, he said, and took the plunge himself.
“I felt like Lois Lane when Superman just came to the rescue out of nowhere,” DiMonda told the News. “I don’t think I would have been able to hold on much longer if he had not come into help me.”
DiMonda’s friends were thinking romance might bloom from the incident, but Przbyla is seeing someone. Instead, they are becoming friends on Facebook and DiMonda is trying to help the out-of-work vet find a job, according to the News.
