MANHATTAN — A man was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Washington Heights early Friday morning, police said.

Alberto Altamirano, 28, was attempting to cross Broadway near 164th Street around 2:53 a.m. when a red Ford Mustang struck him and then fled, according to police.

The car was traveling north on Broadway.

Emergency responders rushed him across the street to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, police said.

Blood remained on the sidewalk where the deceased collapsed Friday morning.

No arrests had been made by Saturday and police said an investigation is ongoing.
