MANHATTAN — Recycling days are about to change for residents of Community Board 5.

Starting next week, residents and businesses between Sixth and Eighth avenues, from Central Park South down through W. 42nd Street, will now have their recycling picked up on Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

That applies to both sides of Eighth Avenue and the south side of Central Park South, but does not apply to either side of Sixth Avenue.

In Midtown South, the recycling day will change to Tuesday in the area between 14th and 29th streets, and Sixth and Park avenues. Also included are E. 14th Street through E. 19th Street between Union Square East and Irving Place, and E. 22nd Street through E. 29th Street, between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue.

The south side of W. 14th Street will not be affected, nor will the west side of Avenue of the Americas.

The changes, which are taking affect in neighborhoods throughout the city, are intended to make recycling pick-up more efficient, the New York City Department of Sanitation said.

The department's Enforcement Division will temporarily suspend the issuing of 'failure to store' summonses during the start-up phase.
