MANHATTAN — Prison life doens't appear to be all that bad according to rapper Lil' Wayne.

Lil' Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, has been checked in with his fans from Rikers Island via his web site weezythankyou.com.

Wayne, who is serving a year at Rikers Island on gun possession charges, said his day consisted of waking up around 11 a.m., having some coffee, calling his children and mother, showering, reading fan mail and even listening to ESPN on the radio.

Wayne also reads the bible and has been writing lyrics. The diminutive rapper is expected to release a new album following his release in 100 days.

"Let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I'm writing are … well there's no word that I can think of that properly defines them," he said on his site.

The rapper also individually thanked fans who had written to him in prison. Wayne has posted four letters to fans since he began serving his sentence.

"I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives," he wrote. "Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say."
