MANHATTAN — While the rest of New York took Monday off, two criminals were hard at work, robbing two Duane Reade locations on the Upper West Side and a third in Morningside Heights, police said.

The drug store bandits began their spree about 12:30 p.m. at the Duane Reade on Broadway between West 97th and West 98th Streets, grabbing items off the shelf and then brandishing a black gun when they were approached by a store employee, according to a police statement.

The thieves were at it again that night, hitting a Duane Reade location less than 10 blocks away, on Broadway between West 88th and West 89th Streets, shortly after 8 p.m.

But the Duane Reade robbers still weren't satisfied, brazenly moving to the scene of their next supermarket sweep — the Duane Reade location on Broadway between West 83rd and West 84th Streets — only five blocks away.

The third and final heist took place less than 40 minutes after the second, according to the statement.

Police are seeking the public's help in tracking down two suspects caught on video, who are accused of two counts of grand larceny and one count of robbery.

Both men were described as black men in their 20's, 5'10", wearing blue hats and white v-neck T-shirts at the time of the incidents.
