UPPER EAST SIDE — Before Cristobal Balenciaga's label became the go-to red carpet staple of Hollywood's A-List, the couturier kept Europe's aristocracy in high style.

Now, a three-month long exhibit at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute at Park Avenue and 68th Street will bring Balenciaga's classic designs to the Upper East Side.

"Balenciaga: Spanish Master," opening Nov. 19, will feature 60 pieces from his collections, including never-before-seen items and the couturiers famous 1939 "Infanta" gown, New York magazine reported.

The show will run through Feb. 19, 2011, and will be curated by Hamish Bowles, Vogue's European Editor-At-Large.

After faltering following the death of its namesake, the House of Balenciaga roared back to life under the stewardship of creative director Nigholas Ghesquiere in the 1990s.

Since its renaissance, fashion-forward stars, including former spokesmodel Jennifer Connelly and Ghesquiere's muse, Charlotte Gainsbourg, frequently wear Balenciaga's edgy designs to high-profile events.

Most recently, Balenciaga's name made headlines when actress Kirsten Dunst's designer handbag was stolen from her hotel room at the Soho Grand while she was shooting a film.
