Fake Gun

Using a water bottle wrapped in a newspaper to simulate a gun, a mugger held up a 22-year-old Brooklyn man on Maiden Lane on June 12, police said.

Vladmir Starikov, 23, approached the Brooklyn man on Maiden Lane near Water Street and ordered him to empty his pockets about 1:30 a.m., according to the NYPD complaint.

Starikov then took the victim’s cell phone and fled in a taxi, but police arrested him several hours later.

Starikov, of 1442 East 23rd St., Brooklyn, was charged with robbery in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney said. He pleaded not guilty and is being held pending his next court date June 29.

Sunglasses Snatched

Two women stole $1,070 worth of sunglasses from the Solstice boutique, on Spring Street, near Mercer Street, shortly after 5 p.m. on June 12.

The women fled on foot with three pairs of Gucci shades valued at $865 and a $205 pair by Prada, according to the NYPD complaint. When the police arrested the women later in the evening, they also found a stolen iPhone, an iPod and four dresses valued at $1,140.

Police charged Robin Seabrook, 47, of 106-40 Sutphin Blvd., Queens, and Tanya Odom, 49, of 566 Putnam Ave., Brooklyn, with six counts each of grand larceny in the forth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, according to a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney.

Seabrook and Odom pleaded not guilty and are being held pending their next court date June 30.

Camera Grabbed

A 67-year-old man visiting from Madrid was talking on his cell phone at the corner of Dey and Church Streets at 10:30 p.m. on June 14 when two black men grabbed his $500 Olympus camera out of his hand and ran away, according to an NYPD complaint.

Police are seeking the two men, described as 30 years old, 5’ 8” tall, 170 pounds.

Bar Theft

A 27-year-old man left his Google Android cell phone on the bar at 1834 Bar & Burger, 62 Pearl St., while he went to the bathroom at 1 p.m. on June 2, and when he returned the $400 phone was gone.

The victim, who lives in Brooklyn, called his phone and the man who answered demanded $200, according to the NYPD complaint. The victim refused to pay and cancelled his service, but the thief had already made phone calls to Mexico and downloaded $30 worth of applications.

Lost Phone

An 18-year-old woman from Westfield, NJ was at a concert in the South Street Seaport at 7 p.m. on June 15 when she discovered her $150 BlackBerry Curve phone was missing.

The woman called her phone and the person who answered told her, “You’re not getting your phone back,” according to the NYPD complaint.

Cubicle Theft

A 22-year-old man from Brooklyn lost his $200 wallet when he left it on his desk in a cubicle at the FedEx store at 105 Duane St. around 1 p.m. on Tues., June 15.

The man said he turned away from his wallet for just a moment while he was working, and when he turned back it was gone. He cancelled his credit cards before anyone could make unauthorized charges, but he also lost his Princeton University ID, driver’s license and social security card, according to the NYPD complaint.

Pocketbook Lifted

A 34-year-old woman lost her pocketbook after she left it on the back of her chair at the Starbucks at 471 Broadway near Grand Street around 9:30 p.m. on June 11.

The woman, who lives in Japan and was in New York on business, said she was working on her laptop and did not notice anyone near her $450 Sivilla handbag, according to the NYPD complaint.

The stolen bag contained a passport, credit cards, a $350 Ferragamo wallet, a $300 iPod Touch, a $500 Japanese train pass and $500 in cash.

Wallet Left

A 30-year-old man from Woodside, NY left his wallet in a taxi when it let him off at Varick and Spring Streets around 10:30 a.m. on May 29.

The man waited more than two weeks to report the crime and said there were many unauthorized charges on his credit cards, but police were only able to verify that three charges were unauthorized, according to the NYPD complaint. The man also lost his driver’s license, social security card and $145 in cash.
