MANHATTAN — Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman is going to bat for Lady Gaga.
Cashman made an announcement Sunday saying she is welcome to mingle with players at the Yankee Stadium — just not in the clubhouse, and only if they win, the New York Post reported.
Gaga was criticized for drunkenly crashing the clubhouse after the Yankee’s loss to the Mets Friday night, but Cashman came to her defense.
“She didn’t do anything wrong,” Cashman told the Post.
Cashman pointed the finger at his own employees for allowing Gaga to slide past them to make her half-naked, sloshy clubhouse debut, the Post reported.
Celebrities are allowed to mingle with players after victories in a designated area near the locker room, Cashman told the Post.
“There is a time and place for that, and its certainly not after a loss and not at the expense of the media doing their job,” Cashman said.
Gaga’s most recent performance — slugging whiskey and groping herself in front of the Bronx players — caused Yankees team co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner to lose his temper and try to ban the singer from the clubhouse permanently.
This offense comes on the heels of other Gaga incidents, including her half-naked demonstration at a Mets game, where she flipped off some fans, and an appearance at her sister’s Catholic school graduation, where she wore a see-through white lace pantsuit.
