MANHATTAN — Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel's piggy bank appears to be doing just fine.
The longtime Democrat has an investment fund worth up to $500,000 and four investment accounts worth between $100,000 and $250,000 according to financial reports released Wednesday, the New York Post reported.
Rangel also made as much as $15,000 in rent from the beach villa at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic that led to a House ethics investigation when it was discovered that he failed to report the rental income or pay taxes on it.
Rangel stepped down from his powerful position as chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee in March after he was reprimanded by the House Ethics committee for violating gift rules.
Rangel, a veteran of the Korean war, is facing at least four challengers in the race for New York’s 15th Congressional district in November, which includes Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood.
