LOWER MANHATTAN — Queen Elizabeth II of England will pay respects to the victims of 9/11 on a brief trip to New York on July 6.

The queen, 84, will visit Ground Zero for the first time since the attacks and get a tour of the construction progress.

She will also attend the official opening of the British Memorial Garden in Hanover Square. The garden is dedicated to the 67 British subjects killed on 9/11.

Later in the day, the queen will address the United Nations General Assembly.

The queen’s husband, Prince Philip, 89, will accompany her on the trip, which will start with an eight-day tour of Canada.

Queen Elizabeth has not been to New York since the 1976 bicentennial, but other members of the royal family have made the trip recently: Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles visited Ground Zero in 2005, and Prince Harry laid a wreath at the site last year.

Prince Harry is visiting New York again this year for the June 27 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Governors Island, several days before his grandmother’s more somber trip.
