MANHATTAN — The Manhattan-based daughter of former Vice President Al Gore, Karenna Gore Schiff, has separated from her husband, friends of the couple have told People magazine.
The news came just one week after her parents, Al and Tipper Gore, announced their own separation.
Schiff, 36, and Andrew "Drew" Schiff, 44, have been married for 12 years and have three young children the magazine said – ages 3, 8 and 10, according to the magazine.
The magzine quoted one family friend as saying that the couple "have been separated for a couple of months" and are seeing a marriage counselor.
Though Gore Schiff is a lawyer by training, the friend told People that most of the time "she's being a mom."
"Both Al and Tipper have been to New York to help Karenna with the kids since her separation," the source also added, according to the magazine.
Schiff, a physician, currently works for a biotech investment firm called Aisling Capital.
