CHELSEA — The Godzilla of gummy bears has landed in Chelsea.

The IT'SUGAR candy shop at the newly-opened Limelight Marketplace is selling what is believed to be the world’s biggest gummy bear, weighing in at five pounds and measuring about a foot tall.  The big bear is the size of 1,400 regular-sized gummy bears.

“I have never seen anything like this. It’s huge,” said Valerie Cruz, 10, of Queens. “I would definitely want one, maybe in blue raspberry.”

The gummy bear, which is 12,600 calories and contains 51 servings, sells for $45 ($48.99 with tax) and comes in sour apple, blue raspberry and cherry.

Brooklynite Greg Algarin, who works nearby and was shopping for candy during his lunch break, said, “I would definitely get this as a dessert centerpiece, but it’s definitely not for eating in one sitting.”

Stevan Fariz works within the Limelight Marketplace at luxury goods store Thérapie a few stalls down, and said he’s been eyeing the gummy bear.

“I would totally eat one of these while watching TV or something,” he joked, while testing the weight of the bear in his hands. “I might get sick, but I’d like to try.”

But the steep price tag did deter many customers — a five-pound bag of regular-sized gummies costs only $18.

“No way would I spend $45 on candy,” said Upper West Sider Kristine Gorman, who looked bewildered when she spied the gummy bear on her way to shop for shoes at the marketplace. “That is way too much.”

IT’SUGAR also sells one-pound gummy bears on a stick, and in a plastic box.

“This is an item we take a lot of pride in,” IT'SUGAR spokesperson Adrienne Sayward said of the five-pound bear. “It’s a novelty item and it’s so different.”

Items are available on the IT'SUGAR website or at Madame Tussauds in Time Square, with select gummy bears also at FAO Schwartz.
