TRIBECA — Who's got the best lamb meatballs and dumplings in TriBeCa?

Find out this weekend as chefs duke it out to raise money for neighborhood schools PS 234 and PS 150 at the annual Taste of Tribeca culinary festival.

Amanda Freitag from The Harrison and Marc Forgione from his eponymous restaurant will duel over the meatballs in the first of two cook-offs. In the afternoon, chefs from Tribeca Grill will go at their counterparts from Macao Trading Co. in a dumpling challenge.

The festival raises tens of thousands of dollars each year to pay for the music program at PS 234 and the arts and enrichment classes at PS 150.

For just $45 this Saturday, foodies can buy a ticket that allows them to sample up to six goodies from booths 65 TriBeCa restaurants will set up along Duane Street.

An early prediction is that Nobu's chicken karaage with green mango and jicama slaw will be a big hit. There's also the spring lamb at Marc Forgione, the grilled octopus at Terroir Wine Bar and the beef tartar sandwich at Plein Sud.

Those looking for a sweet finish would do well to queue up for the delectable cupcakes from Tribeca Treats or the Duane Park Patisserie’s perennially popular molten chocolate cake.

Local wine stores will hold free tastings throughout the day, and the Kids’ Zone in Duane Park will keep children busy with face-painting and balloon animals.

Taste of Tribeca takes place Sat., May 15 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Hudson and Duane Streets. For more information, visit tasteoftribeca.com.
