CHELSEA — Parents from the Clinton School for Writers and Artists are hoping to assemble a last minute task force that would keep the school in Chelsea for one more year.

The school, currently located at 320 West 21st St., is slated to move next year to the American Sign Language School and English Lower School on East 23rd Street to free up overcrowded classrooms at P.S. 11, where the Clinton School is currently located.

Clinton School parents are hoping community leaders, elected politicians and education officers will explore the possibility of temporarily relocating the school to 75 Morton St, a state-owned building

The Dept. of Education did not immediately return emails for comment.

The Clinton School will permanently relocate to 10 East 15th St. by fall 2015, according to the latest DOE proposal.

The final hearing on the proposed plan is Monday at 223 E. 23rd St. at 6 p.m.
