FINANCIAL DISTRICT — New York Water Taxi christened two new boats on Tuesday that will take downtown baseball fans to Yankee Stadium and Citi Field for free this season.

Delta Airlines and New York Water Taxi teamed up to offer the free rides for 2010 home games from Pier 11 at Wall Street. Passengers will be dropped off 30 minutes before game time at Yankee Stadium or the World's Fair Marina. There is no return service offered.

"It's awesome, it's a great opportunity to have a good time before the game," said New York Yankees legend Bernie Williams, who christened his first ship by breaking a bottle of champagne over the edge. He got some bubbly on himself, too.

"I was such a rookie, I got soaked," he said.

The boats will have bars on them that will serve "Fly Ball" cocktails, beer, soda and snacks.

Tickets will be available at the Wall Street pier, as well as online. But the online tickets come with a $1 service charge.

"This is a pretty amazing way to get to the game," said Mets right fielder Jeff Francoeur, who also enjoyed busting the bottles of champagne in the christening, "and it's faster then a car."
