MANHATTAN — As the weather gets warmer, Manhattanites start to fill not only the sidewalks, but also the streets for festivals that cause closures and delays for drivers, which the NYPD warned about in its weekend traffic advisory on Friday.

Saturday features two festivals, one in Chelsea and the other in Midtown East. The Chelsea Visiting Neighbor’s Eighth Avenue Festival will cause the closure of Eighth Avenue, between 14th and 23rd streets, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

During those same hours, the following areas will be closed for the Sikh Cultural Society Parade and Festival: Madison Avenue between 23rd and 36th Streets; 38th & 37th Streets between Fifth & Park Avenues; 36th Street between Fifth & Madison Avenues; 27th Street between Fifth & Park Avenues; and 26th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues.

On Sunday, a large stretch of streets from 65th Street from Columbus to Lexington Avenues, Lexington Avenue to 23rd Street, and 23rd Street to Madison Avenue will be closed for the March of Dimes. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Third Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets will be closed for the Third Avenue Merchants Spring Expo.

Part of the Upper West Side will be closed off on Sunday for the Veritas Inc./Duke Ellington Neighborhood Association 24th Precinct Community Council Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The east side of Broadway between 96th and 110th Streets will be closed during those hours.
