MANHATTAN — The never-ending battle between bikes and cars on city streets reached a new level Friday when the New York Post report that an enraged bicycle messenger clipped by a limo jumped on to the hood, smashed through the windshield with his bare hands and assaulted the driver.

"He hit me and kept going," the unrepentant attacker, Perzeus Forte, 20, told the Post. "I'm sick of this."

Forte was hit by the limo on Sixth Ave. at West 19th Street around 1 p.m., and said he flew into a rage when the driver didn't stop, the Post said.

He followed the limo driver Darr Mohammed, 49, until he stopped at a red light a block north, then sprung into action, the Post said.

Forte was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment, though Mohammed told the Post he does not plan to press further charges.

"I'm just glad to be alive," Mohammed added.
