MANHATTAN — Six BMWs on their way to the New York International Auto Show, including one rare model, were stolen from lots in New Jersey, according to the New York Post.

Thieves took the Sophisto Gray 550i, which was the only one of its kind in the country, early on March 13 from a BMW Port Jersey preparation center in Jersey City. The $90,000 sedan was intended to be shown at the Javits Center for the Auto Show, the paper reported.

Along with the 550i, at least three robbers drove off in a 535xi and a 650i.

On Monday night, the thieves stole a 750 LXI. On Wednesday, authorities believe that another BMW was stolen from a company facility in Elizabeth, according to the Post.

BMW could not be reached for comment.
