MANHATTAN — The city's first gay tourist oasis came one step closer to fruition on Wednesday night, as Community Board 4 approved a liquor license resolution for the proposed XL nightclub.

If built, XL will be the centerpiece of the Out NYC Urban Resort, planned for West 42nd Street between 10th and 11th avenues. The resolution passed the full board with an overwhelming majority and almost no opposition voiced during the meeting.

The agenda item was originally scheduled for March 3, but developers pushed it back so they could address concerns raised by community members, Donald Bernstein, an attorney for the project, said Wednesday.

"We want to get along with our neighbors," said John Blair, a managing partner for the nightclub, who was also a long-time member of CB4.

The next step for the project's developers will be to send the liquor license application to the State Liquor Authority.
