MANHATTAN — Multimillionaire developer Carl Paladino is mad as hell, and since he's not going to take it anymore, he's decided to run for governor.

Paladino — the third Republican to join the gubernatorial race — announced his campaign in downtown Buffalo Monday to fans carrying signs reading, “I’m mad as hell too, Carl!”

“The government is in shambles, and we’re paying for it in unbearable taxes far, far above the national average,” Paladino said at the rally, according to the New York Times. “Are you mad? Are you gonna take it anymore?”

The conservative gubernatorial candidate has committed to using $10 million of his $150 million personal worth for the campaign.

If he makes it onto the ballot, Paladino will face off against Republicans Rick Lazio and Steve Levy, both of whom enjoy a great deal of respect in their party.

Paladino said on his Web site that he will use the petition process — which requires 15,000 signatures in 15 of the state’s congressional districts — to get on the ballot, eschewing the traditional route of gaining access to the ballot via the party’s June convention.
