MANHATTAN — Police are looking for a man they say tried to rob a livery cab driver and then bit him repeatedly when the driver refused to give up the cash.

The driver picked up the suspect on East 130th Street near Lexington Avenue in East Harlem and took him to West 180th Street in the Bronx, police said.

When the cab arrived at the destination, the passenger pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money, but the cabbie refused, the NYPD said.

The two men began to struggle and the suspect bit the driver five times on the neck arm and back, before jumping out of the cab and running away, according to police.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall Hispanic male in his 30s, weighing 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
