Spelling Bee Brings New York's Top Middle School Spellers to the Upper East Side Updated March 11, 2010 7:54am

MANHATTAN — How do you spell victory? More than 100 middle schoolers will find out this week as the 46th annual Daily News New York Spelling bee kicks off Thursday.

The event will be held in the Hunter College High School auditorium on the Upper East Side on 94th Street between Madison and Park avenues.

The 107 students competing in the bee — the largest number ever — were involved in preliminary contests throughout the five boroughs, 1010WINS reported.

One winner will be decided at the end of each day, and the two students will go on to represent the city in the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held on May 31 in Washington, DC.

The winners will also get tickets to see "101 Dalmatians" at Madison Square Garden, as well as free passes to Medieval Times in New Jersey.
