MANHATTAN — A transformer fire shut down West 14th Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, Friday afternoon.
A FDNY spokesperson said the fire was under control about 1:30 p.m. and Con Edison was on the scene.
"We got it under wraps," he said. "The guys did a good job out there."
No one was injured in the fire. 1010 Wins reported that the street was reopened about 1:45 p.m.
A ConEd spokesperson told DNAinfo that no customers lost service as a result of the fire.
He said that while the snow and salt mixing with wires could have caused the fire, Con Ed investigators hadn't determined the cause yet.
