MANHATTAN — Police are searching for a robber who stole money from an elderly lady by posing as a roofer who needed cash to fix her roof.

The robbery suspect is described as a white male in his 20s who approached the 92-year-old victim at her West Village residence on Dec. 30 and told her that the roof needed repairs. The scammer then escorted the woman to the bank where she withdrew cash and handed it over him, according to police.

Police released an image of the suspect and is asking for the public's help in identifying him. Anyone who has information about the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
