MANHATTAN — A wily coyote strolled into Washington Heights Wednesday morning, prompting local residents to call the NYPD, according to police.

The NYPD's emergency service unit tracked the animal at 155th Street and Broadway at roughly 10 a.m. and shot it with a tranquilizer dart.

The animal was brought to the Bronx Zoo

It's being examined by the Wildlife Conservation Society, Gothamist reported.

The female coyote is about one or two years old and will eventually be sent to a rescue center or released back into the wild, the WCS's Mary Dixon told Gothamist.
