MANHATTAN — Jay Leno has been banished — if not forever, at least back to the later late night TV show circuit, according to several reports.

Leno’s show, which has suffered plummeting ratings, will go on hiatus after Feb. 1, but start up again after the Olympics in the 11:30 p.m. slot . But whether or not the new time comes with a 30 minute or a one-hour time slot is still unknown.

If Leno does score a full hour, NBC will have to bid adieu to Conan O’Brien’s “The Tonight Show.”

However, FTVLIVE, which bills itself as “TV’s best insider website,” reported that the network is ready to entirely pull the plug on Leno.

NBC issued a statement on Thursday admitting that Leno’s show has posed problems for the network, but said they were committed to making it work.
