BATTERY PARK CITY — Battery Park City residents bid bon voyage to two noisy catamarans on Wednesday, which were replaced by two quieter vessels — the "Brooklyn" and the "Hoboken."

The replaced boats, the "Yogi Berra" and the "Christopher Columbus," had been added to the ferry schedule in early November to accommodate the influx of riders from the new Goldman Sachs building on West St.

But Community Board 1 members unhappy with the noise and early hours of operation petitioned the boats' operators, BillyBey Ferry and NY Waterway, to change the type of boat being used.

The ferry company complied with the board's wishes, and the Brooklyn and the Hoboken, which have quieter engines than their predecessors, will take up the route from the World Financial Center Terminal  to New Jersey.
