DNAinfo Evening Manhattan News Update

MANHATTAN — Good morning this is your update from DNAinfo. It's chilly out there. Current temperatures are in the high 40s. Today will be cloudy and breezy highs around 53 degrees.

Looking around the neighborhoods, in Chinatown, eight people were hurt, two of them seriously injured, after a cement truck accident yesterday. Witnesses say the truck was leaving the Manhattan Bridge when the driver lost control and plowed into six cars.

Big box wholesaler Costco opens today in East Harlem. The store is part of the East River Plaza, a $500 million development that took 15 years to complete. DNAinfo spoke to residents about the opening.

Midtown West may become a battle field this morning when the Manolo Blahnik sample sale kicks off at the Warwick Hotel. Ladies, and a few men,  are expected to claw their way through the sale to snag a coveted pair of the discounted shoes.

Manhattan is welcoming this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree today. It's a 76-foot Norway spruce that rode in on a flatbed from Connecticut. The tree will be decorated before the annual lighting on Dec. 2.
