MANHATTAN — A 52-year-old man was arrested Thursday over a string of robberies in Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side, including one in which he allegedly posed as a deliveryman and punched a 72-year-old woman in the face.

William Rodriguez, of The Bronx, faces charges in connection to six robberies in the neighborhoods.

On Wednesday, he broke into an Upper West Side home and threatened a nanny, who was looking after a 5-month-old boy, with a knife, police said.

Police said Rodriguez gained entry to the apartment by pretending to be a deliveryman. He was carrying fake packages.

He took off with a laptop and a hard drive.

The wave of crimes began on Oct. 8 in the West Village. Police said Rodriguez jumped a 53-year-old woman from behind after she returned from taking out trash. He allegedly tied her up with an electrical cord and robbed her of cash and electronics.

The second crime took place on Oct. 16 on Bank Street after he asked an 84-year-old victim for a glass of water to distract her, police said. The third on Oct. 25 took place on the Upper West Side and the fourth in Greenwich Village on Oct. 29.

Charges are pending.
