DNAinfo Evening Manhattan News Update

By DNAinfo Staff on November 2, 2009 7:11pm

This is your DNAinfo evening update for Monday.

We'll get down to the mid-40s tonight. Tomorrow: partial sunshine, getting up to the high 50s.

It's the final hours of campaigning for Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Democratic challenger Comptroller William Thompson. A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows Bloomberg's lead in tomorrow's election is shrinking, but it's still in the double digits. Voting begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

The USS New York, a Navy assault ship made with steel from the World Trade Center, docked in Manhattan for the first time today. Hundreds including families of September 11 victims gathered to watch.

Shoppers should check their freezers for recalled ground beef from Fairbank Farms that may be contaminated with E. coli. The beef may also carry the label "Est. 492". The Trader Joe's in Union Square confirmed it carried the beef, and has pulled it from its shelves.

And the Yankees could win it all tonight in Game 5 of the World Series. A.J. Burnett starts on three day's rest.
