MIDTOWN EAST — A secret admirer of Sweden's Princess Madeleine set off a bomb scare in Midtown Tuesday when an unsolicited marriage proposal via suspicious package arrived at her mother's office.
A package containing a bra, panties, wires that did not connect to anything and a love letter addressed to "my darling" was delivered to World Childhood Foundation Charity, a charity run by Sweden's Queen Silvia, according to the New York Post.
"The security scanned it as they always do with packages sent to the royal family," said Anika Sonnerberg, spokeswoman for the royal family told the Post. "There was nothing dangerous in it."
Princess Madeleine, 27, lives with her fiancée, Jonas Bergstrom, in Stockholm, but frequently visits New York.
The princess is third-in-line to the Swedish throne and was ranked the 12th "hottest Royal" by Forbes magazine, the Post reported.
The NYPD and State Department were investigating the incident, the Post said.
