The 2012 St. Patrick's Day Parade celebrates the 251st anniversary of a great New York tradition.

Founded on lower Broadway in 1762 by Irish ex-patriots and Irish military serving in the British army, the Parade is a longstanding popular celebration of Irish-American culture. Each year, the parade features 150,000 to 250,000 marchers and approximately 2 million spectators. Expect crowds wearing green, bagpipers and Irish singing, as well as post-parade celebrations all over the city.

The parade will start at 44th Street at 11 a.m. and will march up Fifth Avenue, past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street and the American Irish Historical Society at 83rd Street. Marching will conclude on 86th Street at about 4:30-5:00 p.m.
