STATEN ISLAND — A motorcyclist died late Thursday after being struck by a driver turning onto the Staten Island Expressway, authorities said.

Edward Tsimerman, 38, was riding a 2011 Harley Davidson southbound on Lily Pond Avenue when he was hit by a 78-year-old man turning his Hyundai Sonata left onto the Staten Island Expressway about 10:45 p.m., police said.

Tsimerman, of Alex Circle on Staten Island, was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The other driver was taken to the same hospital and listed in stable condition.

There is no criminality suspected in the crash, police added.
