MANHATTAN — "Hunger Games" fans flocked to Union Square Tuesday to get a glimpse of the wildly anticipated film's cast during an appearance prior to the movie's opening later this week.
Devotees of the hugely popular young-adult novel — set in a post-apocalyptic world where teens battle for survival in a televised competition — began lining up outside the Barnes & Noble bookstore on East 17th Street as early Monday night for a chance to meet the stars.
The film’s lead actors, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, appeared at a special signing event inside the store before a screening of “Hunger Games” at the SVA Theatre in Chelsea Tuesday night.
The movie opens nationally on Friday.
