LOWER EAST SIDE — A 16-year-old girl was shot in the elbow on Stanton Street on the Lower East Side Monday afternoon, police said.
The unidentified teen was shot inside an apartment at 210 Stanton St. about 3 p.m. and taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, according to police.
She was believed to have been struck with a bullet when someone was playing with a gun, sources said.
NYPD officials said that the teen likely knew the suspect. No arrests have been made.
"I heard the [shot] and a lot of people screaming," said a 56-year-old woman who lives on the floor of the victim and declined to give her name. When she opened the door to the hallway, she saw teen shrieking, she said.

The investigation is ongoing.
