WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A Virginia man visiting the city during the holidays has mysteriously vanished.

Ian Burnet, 22, arrived in the city by bus around December 26. Burnet, who came to visit friends and spend New Year's Eve in Times Square, last contacted his parents via text on the 27th.

The day before New Year's Eve,  Burnet contacted a roommate. A Virginia police spokesman said he told that person that "he wsn't having a good experience in New York City."

He hasn't been heard from since, police and family members say.

A woman claiming to be Burnet's sister wrote in a post on reddit.com that credit card records show that he last bought a $20 MetroCard on December 30, and picked up something at Burger King the next day. That same post said he had been staying with friends at W. 139th St. in Harlem.

A Facebook page, "Find Ian Burnet," has been launched in an effort to track him.

Police in Virginia describe Burnet as being about 5-ft-10 and weighing about 160 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call (804) 966-9500.
