GREENWICH VILLAGE — Would you like beer with that?

After a much-anticipated runup, the Greenwich Village location of the Five Guys Burgers and Fries chain has started serving beer along with their coveted burgers and fries.

Burger lovers who belly up to the counter at 496 LaGuardia Place can now choose from four varieties of bottled beer — Budweiser and Bud Light go for $3.95 each, and Stella Artois and Goose Island India Pale Ale cost $4.95 each.

Five Guys received its liquor license in October, according to State Liquor Authority public records, but the beer didn't appear on the menus until more recently.

Customers raised a toast to the new addition.

"You can go to a bodega and you can get a beer for cheaper, but they won't sell you a burger and fries," said Karl Reinhardt, who lives in SoHo.

Even though the Greenwich Village location is the only one of the chain's eight Manhattan locations to have a liquor license so far, patrons at a nearby location have reportedly found a way to get around the no liquor license rule.

The Five Guys at 296 Bleecker St. delivers burger and fry orders to bar patrons at the Bleecker Heights Tavern upstairs, which is only accessible through a staircase at the back of the burger shop, according to New York Magazine.
