Pedestrian in Critical Condition After East Village Motorcycle Crash

MANHATTAN — A pedestrian was clinging to life Sunday after being struck by a motorcycle in the East Village early New Year's Day, police said. 

The injured man, who was struck about 4:15 a.m. Saturday while apparently crossing East 12th Street near Avenue A, was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in extremely critical condition after the crash, authorities said.

The man went into traumatic arrest immediately after the incident, the FDNY said.

The driver was also rushed to the hospital with injuries following the wreck, police said.

Police could not comment on the extent of the his injuries, and there was no criminality involved.
