UPPER WEST SIDE — A crash on the Upper West Side left a police car mangled and at least one officer in the hospital, according to fire officials.

Emergency workers received a call at 9:53 p.m. that a police car had crashed into a pole on West End Avenue and West 75th Street, an FDNY spokesman said. However, a later report suggested that it had in fact collided with another car, according to the departement.

Later that night, a badly damaged police car sat empty at the intersection. Both doors had been cut away from the driver’s side.

Fire officials said that two officers involved were “conscious and alert” after the accident, and that one or both of them was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.

Police didn't provide any information about the incident.
