UPPER EAST SIDE — Central Park's East Meadow is set to reopen Tuesday, capping a yearlong, $3 million renovation to the Upper East Side lawn, the New York Post reported.

The meadow, which is off Fifth Avenue at 97th Street, had deteriorated due to years of heavy use and poor drainage, according to the Central Park Conservancy's website.

The conservancy has been laying down sod, installing an automatic irrigation system and clay ovals around the main lawn for all-weather sports, among other changes.

"Closing the meadow to undertake a full reconstruction and giving the turf adequate time to establish are necessary to return it to a healthy green space that can be sustained for future use and enjoyment," the Conservancy said on its website.
