MANHATTAN — NJ Transit commuters faced a mess for the second day Wednesday following Tuesday's train derailment at Penn Station.

The company cancelled six morning departures on the North Jersey Coast Line and three departures on the Northeast Corridor.

Both lines were operating with up to an hour delay because of track work needed to repair Tuesday's derailment, according to NJ Transit's website.

aAmtrak was still experiencing 10 to 15 minute delays during Wednesday morning's commute, a spokesman said.

"Crews cleared the derailed NJ Transit equipment earlier this morning," he said. "One track is still out of service."

The rear two cars of a NJ Transit train bound for Trenton went off the tracks at Penn Station shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday causing havoc for riders on NJ Transit, Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road.

No injuries were reported because no passengers were in the cars, NJ Transit said. The agency sent another train to transfer the 300 passengers on board.

For unrelated reasons, the 7 line was experiencing delays on Wednesday morning, too.

Due to a train with mechanical problems at the Flushing-Main Street Station, there was no Times Square-bound express service as of 8 a.m., according to MTA.info. Trains were running on the local track.
