Artists Use All the Colors of the Rainbow in Chelsea Exhibit

CHELSEA — Color rules at a new gallery exhibit, "Colorific! We Make an Art Rainbow," at Postmasters Gallery on 458 West 19th St.

The show, opening July 15, organizes works by more than 20 artists according to the color wheel, with each section of the room a different hue.

"Color is one of the major principles of art," said Paulina Bebecka, gallery manager at Postmasters Gallery. "This is a non-pretentious way of trying out some new ideas...It's a fun way of showcasing our artists."

The show consists of all artists who have worked with the gallery in the past, including Guy Ben-Ner, Jennifer and Kevin McCoy, Diana Cooper, and David Nyzio. Bebecka said that some of the exhibit's pieces have been shown widely, while others are brand new.

The opening is Friday evening, 6-8 pm. The gallery, owned and directed by Magdalena Sawon and Tamas Banovich, will be showing "Colorific" from Tuesday-Saturday, 11-6, until August 20.
